No transparency in the “stimulus” bill

Republicans in the Senate received their version of the “stimulus” at 11:00 pm on Saturday.  Barack Obama promised to “shine the light on earmarks and pork barrel spending” on his campaign website, where he also promised to allow “non-emergency” bills have a five day public “comment and review” prior to signing them.  How about every bill that is 100 pages or longer?  Someone tell me the person who can read and digest a 700 page “stimulus” bill in five days.  And, please, do we really believe Obama had a concern about pork-barrel spending in the “stimulus” bill?  I guess we had to let the pork-barrel slide for the emergency too.

Red State calls for more transparency in the process:

From the start of the stimulus debate, conservatives have challenged Obama to live up to his transparency talk. . . .  Given the size and scope of the bill, Americans should demand time to scrutinize its contents — before Congress votes and before Obama signs it into law.
